Over the last century, Earth has been pushed closer and closer to its limit by humankind. Blessedly, just in time to save the dwindling population, scientists have discovered a moon in a faraway galaxy; potentially capable of supporting human life. Luna Roseus is almost equal in size to Earth, and orbits a planet far larger than any in our solar system. Rachel Bright was one of the first astronauts sent to this moon to begin to prepare for humanities arrival.
She arrived in the year 2130, during the lunar night, and exited the ship. Her surroundings: a fluorescent, shimmering, magical spectacle. After arranging supplies and finishing multiple safety checks, with her crew, she began to explore the environment for relevant findings. The surface of the moon was made of uneven, grey rock formations, both large and small. However, the dull grey was illuminated in a red and blue glow due to the immense amount of light in the night sky, creating a breathtaking effect. As she walked and walked and walked passed nearly identical views, she eventually reached a point where the rocky ground disappeared into a large body of water. She had discovered a lunar lake! She slowly turned on the spot, admiring the deep blue of the water; the red-pink glow of the ringed planet just above the horizon; and the endlessly vast scattering of stars overhead. Strange pink lights hovered just above small mounds protruding from the shallow water. It was like a scene from a sci-fi movie.
Despite being surrounded by an utterly surreal environment; once believed to be out of reach by humans; it was the strange jellyfish-like animals in the air around her that shocked her the most. Life! Real, substantial, extraterrestrial life. With the knowledge of the moon's water and stable atmosphere on the moon, she knew she would likely encounter such a discovery. However, it still shocked her to her core. The discovery of non-microscopic life on this moon proved it could be made fit for humans: it could be the salvation humanity so desperately needs.
